For my remix project, I am planning to remix the movie, Frozen, into a horror movie trailer. I like to watch horror movies, but I definitely do not watch them as much as a person who watches them all the time and is their favorite movie genre. In order to appeal to the audience of people that watch and enjoy horror movies, I will have to do more research as to the certain aspects of horror movies that make them enjoyable for those people. I will also have to research aspects of those films that make the films scary. This is something that I have some sense of, but in order to do a good job, I will need to do a bit more research of what people like.
Since I like horror movies but don’t like them as much as I like other movies, I feel like I have an idea of my imagined audience, but if I don’t do a sufficient amount of research then my actual audience will be disappointed. The two types of audiences were talked about in the Litt reading for today. The imagined audience is who the writer thinks their piece is for while the actual audience are the people who actually read it. This is important to take into consideration because just because a writer thinks their audience will agree, their audience may be someone or something entirely different. I feel like due to the fact that I like horror movies but do not watch a lot of them, that this research is important for my project. I know what specifically I like about horror movies, but I do not know what the majority of the people like and these things may differ. Taking these things into consideration and doing the appropriate research for my remix project will allow me to create something the audience will enjoy and appreciate.
